The Flip Side- A Real Ferrymens Account.

17 minute read

So’the other side of the coin’the ex-Ferrymen spoke out on their view of the alliance situation’maybe its time someone that is still inside those walls speak as well. One, Damari had only a short stay within the alliance leader walls. So I suppose she of all would know about not being able to hack it. Cant take all the credit, she really tried too. The difference is…we removed ourselves, did she? But pointing out that Ferrymen couldn’t keep up with the demands of the alliance’well that’s just the point isn’t it? Maybe we didn’t want to put up with the demands’maybe as an equal component of an alliance’there shouldn’t have been demands at all.

I wont argue there had been strife among the halls of Ferry. To do that would be denying something I believe clans obviously go through when there is a leadership and structure change. We shifted. I will argue, however, the belief that there currently remains strife. That walked out the door on Damari’s back. There are some in the clan that may still care for Damari, but I happen to know even they have seen a significant change since the time she was removed.

As for the bigger umbrella in town. Our reason for being in the alliance was never about finding protection for ourselves or hiding under the shade of anyone from the big bad bullies of RBC. Our reasons were about having like-minded individuals share in an equal chance to benefit one another. That wasn’t the case, so we removed ourselves.

Since the night I joined Ferrymen beside my then sire Sartori, and hearing the stories of the history from not only the Corridor instructor but from the leaders, the members, and those that had always been friends of the Ferrymen, I have wanted nothing more than to be a part of that. Ferrymen may never return to its former days, that cant be predicted, but most often that’s the way things happen. Change is an integral part of continual success.

We don’t aim to be the biggest loudest stick carrying clan in town. We aim to achieve a clan that gives our members a home, and a place to feel pride in the things they achieve as individuals, all while feeling safe and working towards our goal as a whole. We don’t look at them like objects to do our bidding in the city, we don’t train them just so they can give us as leaders a scary reputation. The success of our clan isn’t credited to the leaders’its credited to the work and dedication of the members that we are grateful to have with us. A credit to them that has been long overdue in the past few months as they have put forth every effort to regain what many had thought we lost.

From the day Lucius created Ferrymen, it was never about being a huge machine to throw weight around the city. That is one thing that hasn’t changed during all of this. Our purpose and mission remain the same as it has always been…even among rough waters.

However, this is a very large difference in what the UnHoly alliance aims to achieve and what we as Ferrymen aim to achieve. Maybe it was because of this difference we were made to feel like a tag-on or just considered ‘the rest’ by the other leaders. We never felt the need to be loud about our actions when we did take them. We just did what we had to so we could ensure the safety and comfort of our members. Maybe down the line these things will also change, who can say?

For now, we, The Ferrymen, remain strong and steady in our beliefs, come what may. And those beliefs, were not the same as those of the UnHoly Alliance.

Damari

My editorial was pithy yes but also fair in and of itself. Your tactic seems to be ‘Damari Smear Campaign’.

That’s your way and it seems to work for you. This is mine.

Just imagine what Seyda could have done with the topic had she the mind to? She can be rabid when she puts her mind to it, impressively so. I believe that while The Ferrymen took a slight hit in what I wrote I was fair enough to give the clan its due too.

I do believe that since it was me, you’re just blowing it all out of proportion.

I opened the door, yes. But I did not dictate to you how you chose to walk through it. _____

Damari ~Silence eeerr yeah, not really eh?

~~~Irony, considering that this is the very thing I told not only you, but Cerridwen as well, except paraphrased and presented like an original statement. How nice. I’ve been keeping quiet for the benefit of yours, but since I see I won’t be getting the same respect in return (that’s the word you’ve been tossing about, yes?), then I suppose the floodgates are now open.
Lack of respect from a member of the Ferrymen. Fancy that.
Cerridwen
I dont believe it was the Ferrymen that made city wide announcements about our private afairs to begin with. If you dont like the fact that we were forced to make a public statement about the Ferrymen position, why dont you take it up with Damari?
~Cerridwen~ Lucius’ Kiddo The Ferrymen
Seyda
Cerridwen, I’m sorry, but you’re not making sense. A member of the city writes an editorial about an alliance containing her theories and you’re “forced” to make a public statement about your position?
May I ask, were you forced to make the public statement that you were leaving the Alliance for issues that neither of you had the balls to even mention?
Damari
Take it up with Damari? What did I do? No one forced you to do anything. Little old me? FORCE you?
I wonder…. why are you surprised by this, considering it is the same behavior and treatment they gave their OLD allies (HoH and Cap) when they left to join you?
I said then that this day would come, and I really didn’t expect it to be a SURPRISE to you when it did.
I dont understand all the poking and bickering here. This articile was not meant to be a dig at the UnHoly alliance. It was my view on why we left. I never said their way sucks or our ways are better…just different. And I believe saying we didnt have the guts to bring them up would be innacurate…because I did. As for past alliance…I was not a leader nor was Cerridwen then. We dont know why the alliances were formed…or why Ferrymen pulled out of them. So really its just absurd to say it was done with any intentions. But no matter…I can understand the bitterness of feeling used by someone you thought cared for you past business. Been there done that.
pokes Damari Only bitterness here is for you…for your two faced attitude you’ve shown not only here but when you were a Ferrymen. Always one thing in private and another on show.
And Seyda…yeah you did say that to me..and I agreed by telling you thats exactly what ive been telling the clan…this was not your original idea…and probably wasnt even mine. But regardless of where it came from, doesnt make it less true.
Seyda
Pea, we talked for over an hour the morning you lot pulled out. You said nothing about this. I spoke to you for a bit the day prior. You said nothing about this. To claim otherwise when I have the documentation is foolish.
Now, stating something that I told you and you apparently agreed with, then using that same liner as fodder for why your clan is different than mine or the other allies and thus reason to pull out is…well…a very interesting contradiction indeed.
Seyda
Ouch. Just ouch.
Seyda
AQD and Hesu joking with each other. hears twilight zone music in the background
Cerridwen
there is change. I appreciate all your statements, and all your opinions. Truly I do, well not yours Damari. No one likes change, things have been stressful, unfortunate events, no one can argue that. But the one thing that is constant is that we’ve not malaligned you and yours. We stated it was time for us to change. We, the now leaders of the Ferrymen have made this choice. We are not the old that made any of the aggreements you speak of here.
You say we’ve not done anything in the span of time you speak of, yet it was not us leading then now was it? And frankly, Grandsire and Seyda, you both know that is not true in the recent months.
I have never disrespected you Grandsire, nor you Seyda, and frankly nor AQel or pandrora (well not in a few years anyway that I can remember ;) ). Yet here you all are making jabs and jokes and trying to be insultive.
Change is hard, its painful and its very unsettling. But it is constant. Will you stand here now in front of the entire city and embrace that change with disgrace or grace? That is your choice. For myself I chose grace. The views of the Ferrymen, and its leaders have changed, we do not hold anyone accountable for that but our own progress and growth.
~Cerridwen~ Lucius’ Kiddo The Ferrymen
ladypeacek
I said nothing to you that morning for the same reason i said nothing about you guys killing my childer the night before you did that.
And for my remark, that wasnt the differences I meant in our clan and yours…it was more the approach to how we handled things externally…that were the differences I saw. I cant compare us otherwise because i dont know how you are with your members or Hesu with hers. I added it because of things Damari pointed out that were inaccurate. I can see i was unclear in seperating the two parts.
Innacurate mind you because she is speaking as an ex-member…that no longer sees whats been done since.
Hesu
2) ophelia, Damari, myself and AQel all agree on something
Hesu
3) Pandrora FINALLY got to tell Seyda “I told ya so”
Seyda
So you’re admitting that you left the Alliance without bringing up your discontent.
I’m glad that you and I can finally agree on something. As for the rest of it, continue being defensive. You wear it well.
waves
Seyda
Totally rare when THAT happens.
grumbles
Hesu
Yes it is very mature and shows great growth to leave an alliance you claimed to be friends with, never having said a word about your departure. I am so glad you have grown to these heights, it is impressive. I think you need a new dictionatry when it comes to grace though.
No discussion just public posts… now THATS grace Im impressed
Damari
arches eyebrow Everyone’s except mine? Well, that certainly cuts me to the quick.
The key here Cerridwennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. Is that each editorial has merit but in your (royal your) inability to see past the fact I wrote one that was informative, albeit partisan. Your ‘forced’ response editorial has created a situation where you find yourselves defending a position no one forced you to take.
The more you comment, the worse you make it. I would advise that ~Silence is the better part of valour. But honestly. I secretly want you to keep talking.
grin _____
Damari My friends call me ~Silence
ladypeacek
Ok..call me defensive..maybe I am…but most that know me well enough would understand why I speak. But just remember that insults…especially unprovoked ones…are also a form of defense. Using wit and sarcasm to take light off the real issue. shrugs
Anywho… where did i say there was discontent? I believe it was our differences that I spoke about as to reasons for us leaving. Would you change your clan and ways to match ours? No…i didnt think so.
The fact is…were you benefitting from us being there? No…i dont think you were. Hesu made it clear how she really felt in her comment. Funny how that was never said to me until now, guess we werent the only ones not communicating, huh. It was definitelty different while we were in the alliance.
“Actually, it is almost impressive, to have done so little and impressed so few with your abilities in so long a spanse and to think… where would they be with out us…”
So, why worry or care that weve left. Please..dont think so little of me to respond with ‘we dont’…because no one would be here insulting us and hashing this out publicly if you werent bothered by this so much. Maybe the way we left… But really…there was nothing to discuss…the end result would have been the same. Especially if this is the way you guys felt about us all along…no? We saved everyone the waste of time debating the issue.
I wish you all well despite all of this. Im done now.
I am SO glad I left the Ferrymen. I haven’t spoken to anyone really since I left but to read all the bs astounds me. To hear words like “Growth” and how members are never pushed into anything. I know all members are being forced into a specific order whether they like it or not.
I do feel bad for the friends I still have in there and wonder how long it will be until there is major member walkout. I predicted all of this bullshit and more and here we are.
This a quote someone made that was from the Unholy Alliance: where would they be with out us…
Hmmmm…right where they are and prime for the taking. Ferrymen leaders speak of change? Now what have all the good intended changes brought you? You’re back to zero.
